Here's the reality: Streaming services pay artists nearly nothing. Buying one t-shirt from me gets me as much money as if you streamed my music over 10,000 times on everyone's favorite platform. It's never been harder to make a living as an artist. Don't even get me started on AI music.
Being a DIY musician is easily 80 hours of work a week between promotion, social media, songwriting, practicing, booking, performing, long drives, and administrating everything. This is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. But there is no better feeling than bringing people together, building community, and making people feel seen and inspired. That's what I want from this.
